However, many diseases are interdisciplinary and involve multiple disciplines. In developed medical countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom, when seeking medical treatment, it is recommended to first make an appointment with a attending physician (usually an internal medicine specialist). The attending physician will then organize a multidisciplinary team of experts based on the patient's condition to provide diagnosis and develop treatment plans.
